Our approach

Travel should be light and considerate. We go by train or bus whenever possible, walk in town, and take a short taxi when it helps. We respect paths, nature and people, ask before taking photos, take our litter with us and follow local rules.

We avoid crowded hotspots when good alternatives exist. Off the main track you often find more time, more space and better encounters.

How we select places

Hand-picked over hype: What matters is reliable rail connections directly to your destination or the nearest station, as well as the most sustainable onward journey to your destination. The journey is part of the joy; arriving is the icing on the cake.

For each place we bundle what you actually need: maps that surface places to eat and stay, the weather, and—where relevant—links to national rail operators.

We calculate the distance between the train station and the city center and determine our recommendation for getting there as follows: We consider short distances of up to 15 minutes on foot to be walkable. For walking distances of 30-40 minutes, we recommend using public transportation. If there is no public transportation available locally, or if it runs only sporadically, we advise you to take a taxi or, if necessary, rent a car. However, this information is subject to change at any time, and we strongly recommend that you always check the latest information in advance.
